Fics like Trauma is a Loaded Gun, Healing is When We Do Not Run

After decades of conflict, Vash can finally settle down and enjoy a quiet life with his companions. Having the "legendary gunman" always within reach is a refreshing change of pace for Meryl, who now spends her time chasing insurance contracts rather than humanoid typhoons. But even peace time is not without challenges. Vash's lifetime of running from gunfight to gunfight has left scars deeper than either he or Meryl are prepared to confront. When those scars manifest as unimaginable night terrors, Meryl's own trauma resurfaces as a result. The two of them are faced with the stark realization that living a domestic life side by side isn't going to be a simple or easy affair. Vash is used to running away, and Meryl is used to letting him go. Now with the prospect of them causing each other mutual harm, they'll have to learn to communicate if they want to work through decades of emotional baggage. Can Meryl overcome both hers and Vash's scars to reach out a hand in healing? And can Vash accept that there really is someone who wants to stay with him despite the pain?
