Fics like my boyfriend's pretty cool (but he's not as cool as me)

“New York. Far from Hawkins, monsters and heartbreak, right?” Eddie swallows as he watches Steve turn to bury his face in the pillow and yawn which – how does he manage to make even yawning sexy? “Yeah,” he agrees and prays to god Steve misses the choked off undertone. “Far from all of that.” And as Steve shoots him a smile, a really happy smile, and then curls up on the mattress to sleep, closing his eyes, right next to Eddie, Eddie’s heart painfully tightens. Because, well, that was a fucking lie. He might be far from Hawkins and monsters but… Heartbreak? That shit’s right there. Lying next to him in one of Eddie’s shirts. Close enough to touch. But not close enough to keep. Never close enough to keep. or: Steve and Eddie move to New York together. Eddie's in love with Steve but Steve is straight and will never love him back. Right?
