Fics like West Side Story: A Tragedy in Two Acts and Fifteen Scenes.

A modern day adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet set against the backdrop of summer 1957 Manhattan, New York. Set amid the demolition of San Juan Hill to make way for the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, two teenage gangs fight over the skeletal remains of their home. The situation becomes more dire when the turf is crossed and those from across the divide fall in love. (Also Irving Shulman's 1961 novelization is actual trash.)
