Fics like Touch of an Immortal
Three rings with gods that have been corrupted by the evil of humanity are thrown into the ocean. They find three new humans to wield them while Theo, Aelfric, and the rest of the party that has gathered around them try to track the rings down so that they don't do too much damage. Again. This is easier said than done.
