“I believe I know the perfect question!” Auguste declared, and without warning his gaze became razor sharp, his voice dropping into a serious tone as he asked, “Why do you despise me?” Millard froze mid-shuffle, anger bubbling up inside of him. Why did he think Millard disliked him? Was it not obvious? And why would he even care anyway? Auguste and Millard absolutely loathe each other, but through games of cribbage they come to understand each other better, and the shape of their relationship changes.
