Fics like Everything Could Be All Right For Everyone

He’d spent over half his waking hours in Whit’s End since the first phone call from Jason, simmering in the discomfort of staying somewhere he didn’t belong just for the chance to… what, see an angel? Run a diagnostic test to see if the guy was human or higher? Richard hadn’t thought that far ahead. Was actively suppressing his urge to think that far ahead. If he thought that far ahead, he would get dangerously close to hope, and, even as the minor miracles came rolling in from every place where Richard wasn’t, he couldn’t wrap his mind around consciously hoping for an angel. The risk-reward ratio was too high. Everyone says there's an angel in town fixing their lives for them, but he hasn't made it to Richard yet. Richard's starting to wonder if he ever will. An episode rewrite of "Malachi's Message," with Richard Maxwell included and some minor canon adjustments.
