Fics like Things change, and maybe, sometimes they are for the better

Tommy was a mer made in a lab, designed to trick mers into captivity and death. Tommy doesn't really understand that though. He just wants to be a good mer and make his humans happy! So he doesn't know why Sam is telling him that he needs to be freed. He also doesn't get why Sam is trying to give him away to the evil wild mer in the ocean. Tommy just wanted everything to stay the same, but, well- Tommy has never gotten what he wanted since creation, so why would that ever change?
