And then, one day, Phil came home with a tiny bundle of teeth and claws, and Techno's dormant soul-scales finally lit up. The intricate white all along his tale and going up his sides; swirls and dots all coming together in a delicately perfected pattern, glowed like the sea-lanterns that lit their cave. A rush of emotion rolled through him, and he couldn't help but tip closer, peeking at the little hurting mer in Phil's arms. "Techno," Phil said softly, and the mer shifted, blinking two huge bright blue eyes at him, "meet Tommy." or, Techno finds his soulmate. He immediately gets attached.
