Fics like and if you close your eyes

The bigger mystery when it came to their instructors, though, was why the two of them had come to teach at TOPGUN. James knew that anyone who had graduated as Top Gun was welcome to teach anytime, and he knew Maverick and Iceman had only graduated a few years ago. But, again, they were the only two current naval aviators with air-to-air kills. They were living legends, and they could surely have their pick of deployments even if they wanted to stay together. A few of James’s classmates had been bold enough to ask about Iceman’s and Maverick’s reasons during their lectures, but even Maverick had been cagey with his answers that time. Or, in which James "Torro" Torres manages to graduate from TOPGUN and uncover the mystery behind Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and Tom "Iceman" Kazansky both in the same afternoon.
