Fics like Monsters Don’t Live Happily Ever After

Nearly a year after his defection, all Shadow wants to do is live a life of peaceful obscurity. For a while, a new country, job, and identity allowed him to do just that. But after uncovering the long forgotten history of his new home in the countryside, Shadow comes face-to-face with remnants of a curse from centuries passed. And when his new home suddenly becomes unsafe, Shadow finds he has no choice but to cooperate with the fearsome beast that rules over a castle hidden away from the rest of the world. While kept together by circumstance, the two soon find that in order to forge futures for themselves, they must first address the past. — AKA Sonic is a scorned prince cursed to be a werehog and Shadow is a former military weapon running from his past.
