Fics like hope (in the wake of despair)

The world tipped upside down, replaced with an eerie burning tarmac. Outlined by fire, a body cried broken, heavy gasps against an unmoving form. “This wasn’t supposed to happen, I was supposed to save you…” the figure croaked, dipping their head towards the body’s chest. “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…” And then Yechan was back in the forest, kneeling over the hole in the ground as he clutched at his burning chest. Soon enough, Z3-PD had a claw gripped around the item he had touched, pulling it out of the ground. When he looked at what it was, his breath caught in his throat. It was a lightsaber. -- When Yechan finds the husk of what was once a Jedi lightsaber in the forests outside of Coronet City, he half expects to throw it in a box and forget about it, he can hardly sell it without the Empire's eyes finding him. But when he's wracked with visions that leave him with buzzing ears and images seared into his brain, he realizes his plan to leave it alone won't work. And when he's attacked by a vision of a familar-looking man, he takes it upon himself to uncover the truth and find the man, uprooting his world in the process and leaving him lost with the Empire somehow on his trail.
