Fics like Close Enough

"For the next few days, Steve very pointedly tried to pretend like nothing had happened, because, well, for Eddie, nothing had. Eddie hadn’t felt some sexual awakening and torn himself up inside with conflicting feelings for one of his closest friends. He hadn’t gone home and laid awake imagining what it would be like to say, 'Hey, actually man, I don’t think these magazines are gross at all, because I actually think I like dudes and I also think I want to kiss you?'" In which Eddie and Steve pine for one another. They each quietly accept that they're just friends, and that's close enough. Until it isn't anymore.
