StarClan makes the mistake of trying to manipulate Squirrelflight into believing that she would never have kits and would have no options. StarClan also makes the mistake of underestimating her and Leafpool’s bond, and for thinking that Squirrelflight wouldn’t go to extreme measures to ensure that Leafpool gets what she wants. What Leafpool wants is her kits. For the very first time in her life, Leafpool makes a decision for herself. In doing so, it goes against StarClan and everything else she has been taught from the moment she took on the duty of healing. In a startling turn of events, Leafpool’s actions will force ThunderClan to face the truth of how the Warrior Code gives little room for choices in what they do, unravels the faults and the pain it causes, and brings upon them all a chain reaction of changes that the clan wasn’t entirely prepared for. ThunderClan will have their relationships tested, a new system born alongside Leafpool’s kits, and she’s going to have to ensure she can protect her kits, keep her clan together, and continue her duties through all of it. Beyond the stars where the shadows lie, Ashfur waits for a spark. Then he will burn it all to the ground.
