“You okay, Christopher?” Buck asks when Christopher hasn’t said a single word since getting out of the car. “Yeah,” Christopher says, not taking his eyes off the view. “I just feel so…small.” Buck and Eddie exchange a quick glance. “In a good way or a bad way?” Eddie asks. “Good, I think,” Christopher whispers, reaching for both of their hands. “It’s a little overwhelming, isn’t it?” Buck asks, and both Christopher and Eddie nod. Eddie kneels down on one knee and wraps both of his arms around his son, squeezing him tightly. He’s so much taller than Eddie when he does this now, almost a full head, and still growing like a weed. “I love you so much,” he murmurs, “and I’m so glad we’re here together.” “Me too,” Christopher says, tugging on Buck’s hand that he’s still holding onto, the other arm wrapped around Eddie’s neck. “All three of us.” Eddie looks up at Buck, who’s watching them with so much warmth in his eyes it takes Eddie’s breath away a little. “Yeah,” he manages to get out, still looking at Buck, who’s smiling now. ~ on a road trip with christopher, buck and eddie finally work through their various traumas, and eddie faces his parents again.
