Fics like blowing me home to you

“My wings –” Tommy pants. “They’re – I fell on them when you bumped into me earlier, I – I thought they were okay, but now I can’t –” “Okay, okay. Breathe.” Wilbur soothes. He sets down the cages in the grass and puts two hands on Tommy’s shoulders. “Can I see?” Tommy stares at him. “I can help, I promise. I work in the town’s aviary. I’ve done this my whole life. I promise I won’t hurt you.” Tommy hesitates. He needs to deliver this mail. But, he can’t do his job if he can’t fly. “Okay,” he allows. or, Tommy is a royal mail-carrier and Wilbur lives in the town he's delivering to.
