When Sokka was young, his mother would seat him on her lap and read him stories about soulmates. Two lovers born on opposite sides of the war, destined to kill each other. Until they come face to face on a battlefield and fire with all they’ve got, only to realise that they can’t harm their opponent. They realise that they just tried to shoot the person they’re supposed to love most in the heart. They never forgive themselves after. Or, soulmates can’t hurt each other, and Sokka finds his other half the hard way. - day 5: soulmates
