Fics like guardian, vs "guardian"

Sonic's not familiar with a lot of concepts, having grown up all alone on Christmas Island and not learning to talk until he's around 13. Words with slightly different meanings in slightly different situations trip him up for years. He's especially confused when people ask him if hes Tails’s guardian, as his first understanding of guardian was Knuckles, guardian of the Master Emerald.
