Fics like Ordinary Dogs

Liam slinks out of Sinema at the three-minute mark. He’s a stranger from far away; distressed band tee, distressed jeans, distressed face. He looks like he’s trying to forget himself. Spots Theo’s truck the moment he slips past the doors—he’d texted Liam: parked illegally for you, got left on read—head downturned, bangs flopping over his face as he walks blindly down the sidewalk. His shoelaces trail on the ground behind his sneakers, dragging his feet like he’s got stones weighing down his shoes. He’s a little strange up close, too. Collapses in the passenger seat and greets Theo like a dry sponge—wrung out, hollow, listless. Doesn’t humor Theo’s wisecrack about getting kicked out for not meeting the height requirement. Not even a scowl. Sorta unLiam of him. “I think this is the part where you tell me where we’re going,” Theo says.
