Fics like The calm before the aftermath

“Let’s think about something else for a while,” Duncan says, tracing his thumb along the curve of Jimmy’s jaw, drawing him in. Duncan presses his lips to Jimmy’s; gentle, almost tentative at first, then more insistent as Jimmy’s hands find his hips automatically. Duncan groans, crowding Jimmy into the kitchen island, tilting his head to deepen the kiss, his beard catching on Jimmy’s stubble. He tastes of whisky, a hint of salt from who knows how long spent out on the beach skimming stones, and it’s been so many long days. So much grief and pain and exhaustion and so many things beyond his control. Thinking about something else sounds grand.
