“Isn’t it?” Tommy asks, finally rolling his head to face Technoblade. He’s looking at Tommy with that same weird expression he’s had this entire time. He’s got a deathgrip on the edge of the mattress, too, claws digging into the fabric cover. He’s gonna rip it if he’s not careful. “I mean– you kinda told me to, ‘Blade. No– no uncertain terms ‘n all that shit. I mean I know it wasn’t exactly a hero's death, but…” Tommys gaze drops to the mattress. “‘S probably too late for that, isn’t it? Never really been hero material. Just–” he slowly flexes his hand, the muscles wrestling pathetically against the movement– “this.” He looks back up, meeting Technoblade’s eyes again. “I kinda thought it’d be better for everyone in the end, y’know? Quieter.” Tommy doesn’t know what to expect Technoblade to do when he says that. Leave, maybe. Or make him leave. Or maybe agree and just, finish the job. Make it easier on everyone else. He doesn’t expect him to stare at Tommy like he’d just shot his fuckin’ dog. Or Tommy makes a choice, changes his mind, and everything progresses from there.
