Fics like Sleeptime-travel can get problematic

Waking up in the middle of a war, in a desert, in 1923, and being dragged on the burning sand by an American soldier of the French Foreign Legion isn't exactly nice. It gets even less nice when Dana and her saviour have to run away from a cursed city, trying to escape nomads soldiers observing them from afar, without even a drop of water to do so. How do they survive? How, three years later, they find themselves trapped in the same nightmare all over again? And why do Dana feel so flustered when she meet Ardeth Bay, the Medjai chieftain who will most probably end up killing her? Well, the witch will tell you everything...
