Fics like Violet-Tinted Glasses

The squirrels in Willy Wonka's factory taught the young Veruca Salt a hard, cruel lesson. Now, a decade later, the 20-year-old heiress is still reckoning with the emotional weight of being labelled a bad nut and being tossed down a garbage chute like so much as yesterday's garbage. She's determined to be good and to prove to the world that she's changed but, deep down, no matter how little she's asked for or how polite she's become, Veruca Salt has always felt rotten. But then Violet slips back into her life. Their underhanded promise to become best friends as children blossoms into something more and Veruca is suddenly faced with wanting more than she's ever wanted for years.
