The old island Doc has retired, leaving a gaping healthcare void on the island. Fresh out of residency and tired of the grind in mainland hospitals, Dr. Delilah Pryn wanted a rural community to serve - Crockett Island seemed like the perfect fit. But it becomes obvious the quiet life as town physician she yearned for is not in the cards; especially since she isn't the devout church-goer everyone expects her to be. To some, like Ms. Keane, this translates to a direct assault on the sanctity of the island. To others, like Father Pruitt, Delilah is the most interesting thing to roll into town in years and he ends up forming a strong friendship with the young woman who is one of the only people he can consistently remember during his moments of confusion. Tragedy strikes while the old Father is on pilgrimage, and a young Father Paul Hill comes to be his replacement - much to the displeasure of Dr. Pryn, who doesn't like the changes he brings. They eventually find common ground and form a bond as bizarre events take place on the island. Message me on tumblr if you need an invitation to Ao3 so you can read this!
