Fics like i knew you before we met (and i don't even know you yet)

Soul creatures were old magic, and for all the years of study, still not well understood. They were reflections of souls cast across time and space, and the only thing everyone agreed on was that they protected their soulmate, keeping them safe until the two could meet. Magnus had lived lifetimes watching the large black wolf come and go, holding his breath until the moment he could stay. Alec can't remember life without the cat, his truest ally and his port in the storm through every hardship he'd weathered. When they are both captured by Valentine's men, it feels like the end of everything, but it could be just the beginning.
