Fics like O Captain, My Captain! (O heart!)

When you’re a soldier in Afghanistan, sometimes you can forget anything exists except sand and sun and death; there’s so much life outside of the war zone. When you’re a recovering (NOT AN) addict forced into a box of four plain white walls, lowkey dodgy orderlies and a pompous brother, sometimes you need to take down some of your own walls; trapped animals go wild. When you’re John Watson and Sherlock Holmes, they always need each other. DISCLAIMER: The dates are all wrong. The first episode of the show is released in July, which is when I have their meeting, but they do, of course, meet on January 29th. I'm so sorry! It would be nearly impossible to reshuffle everything, with mentions of holidays and the like. It annoys me too, gah sorry! In this universe, John is terribly alone and falling apart the week he's supposed to meet Sherlock, when his life is supposed to begin again.
