Fics like the subjective frame

Joe is one of those people, Nicky realizes, who seems to have unlocked the secret that beautiful people have: how to carry themselves, how to exude. Nicky doesn't dislike his own looks -- yes, during his teenage years he'd been self-conscious of his awkwardly big hands and his inescapable nose, especially whenever starting over in a new place -- but as he's grown into adulthood, it's all evened out into an appearance he's more or less satisfied with. But he's never mastered that next-level, head-turning attractiveness that Joe has. Or: Five times Nicky thinks Joe is one of the most beautiful men to walk the earth, and one time Joe looks objectively awful and truly wins Nicky's heart.
