Fics like Teenagers Scare the Living Shit Out of Me

Ray puts the watering can down and moves closer to the window to get a better look at the kid. He’s sitting on the edge of the lawn, his leather-clad back to the house. Leather, Ray thinks, as he notices the boy’s frayed black skinny jeans and the edge of a red flannel poking out from under the leather jacket. Ray’s seen punks like this before. Hell, he’s been a punk like this before. And he’s torn, because he knows most punks are the way they are because they’re hurting, but they can also be real assholes about it. Especially towards adults who are as well-off as Ray. And if he’s being honest, thinking back to all those times he found himself on a stranger’s property in the low-light times of the day, there’s no way this boy is up to anything good. Or, Ray discovers that the boys in Julie’s band are ghosts, and Reggie’s never been great at first impressions.
