Fics like sing elegies to the exit wound

Sephiroth stands in the sunlight, the armored scales of his winged form shine bright white, the silver web sharp in the sun. Other than the web, the resemblance is uncanny. Hojo used to talk to the dead-white head in his chambers as though it could still answer him. Even decapitated, even with its desiccated eyes waxy with preservative, even with part of its skull caved in, the cracks black with long-dried blood. The head was always present, front and center, any time Hojo dragged Cloud in for another session. Cloud never heard the thing Hojo called Jenova respond. But people bury the heads of dead Fell rulers for a reason. (Hojo kept talking to it right up until the moment Cloud snapped his neck.)
