Fics like the closed mouth of secrets

Wilbur is fully prepared for the blade that’s bound to come; there would be a poetic symmetry, if Phil were the one to wield it. He’s wondering idly if this new lease on life is a hard reset or a fourth chance: will he wake up, back at spawn, with two lives left to fritter away? God, he knows his tongue would count as a scar weighty enough to carry between bodies. There’s little point in being free, like this. But the other option was to stay in that box, with Dream jabbering at him, and he has enough lucidity to know just how bad Dream is for him. So he got out. Traded with Sam: What can I give you to set me free, he had murmured, and the Warden set his jaw, and hummed, and said As long as you aren’t a threat - And here he is. A bat out of hell, with a shitty mask and no tongue. Trying to work up the courage to break into his dad’s holiday house, or whatever the fuck this commune is. Or: Wilbur loses his tongue, becomes Harpocrates, joins the Syndicate, and finds his way back to his family somewhere along the way.
