It’s another minute before Amelia feels a softer sort of weight as Meredith tugs a blanket over her. She’s half asleep now, giving in to the pull of it, and there’s a feeling of safe that she hasn’t felt in too long. The two of them, they’ve grown up around so much violence, surrounded by so much death. Amelia has known for a long time that the world is not soft, that the world can be hard and brutal and painful. But Meredith’s fingers are warm as she brushes her hair out of her face, her touch is gentle, and maybe this world is not so deadly after all. or: i'm drowning in all these secrets, will you hold them for a while?
