Fics like I loved you (and I still do)

Kaeya had the uncanny ability to make everything seem so...underwhelming. Nothing phased him, not his assignment, nor his assigned partner for this particular excursion. Still, of all the missions that could have gone wrong, it had to have been this one. Maybe he deserved it, having never asked Diluc to join him on a mission before. Perhaps he had unwittingly invited misfortune into his life on that day. He hears something shatter in another room, and the shrill cry of a child echos through the hall. This is going to be a very long day. Or Kaeya and Diluc fall into the Abyss only to find the childhood versions of themselves.
