Fics like If Butterfly Wings create Tornados, What can Bird Wings Do?

A long time ago, every human had wings. When you were born, they were white but they changed to all colors of the rainbow given what kind of life you live, from light yellow to a dark blue. However, now only stumps are left, colored in a muddy gray. No one remembers why humans left their wings and no one cares anymore. That is, until the war and rumors of a winged warrior surface, but even that gets forgotten with the passing of time.
