Fics like Star, Shine on my Grave

An assassin. A commander. Two sides of the same coin; chaos against order, brutality against civility. In normal events, neither would cross paths, both free to walk different ways of life. One to destroy their people, the other to save theirs. Fate is a funny thing. The New Republic, after failing to sentence the assassin with a punishment approved by all, is saved infighting after a successful proposition to the Chiss Ascendancy. A treaty. Ridiculous, perhaps, but not as the Yuuzhan Vong near. And Chiss or not, every people will be exterminated. But fate is a funny thing. >An AU where Thrawn never leaves the Ascendancy, and things fall into chaos from there. Combination of Legends and Canon.
