Fics like Return of the Forgotten: The Clone Wars

The galaxy is at war. Across thousands of worlds, the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems fight a conflict neither side seems capable of ending. Jedi command armies. Clone troopers are sent from battlefield to battlefield. Governments fracture, neutral systems struggle to remain neutral, and old grievances find new weapons. On the edges of that war, however, reports begin to surface that do not fit. Unidentified travelers. Unfamiliar technology. Records with no known origin. People who seem to know things they should not. At first, they are isolated incidents—the kind easily buried beneath the countless emergencies of a galactic war. They do not remain isolated. As soldiers, Jedi, spies, civilians, and others begin pulling at the same scattered threads, the Clone Wars brush against something that has remained outside galactic affairs for a very long time. And whatever has been found appears to have been watching the galaxy for far longer than the galaxy has been watching it.
