Fics like Plans and Reveries

After the Scratch, the Earth is reborn, and the kids and trolls are reborn into it, living separate, human lives. You are KARKAT VANTAS. Your whole life, you have dreamt of another life on another world, far away and in a different time. When you turn thirteen, the dreams turn darker. A doctor prescribes pills to make you sleep dreamlessly. The nightmares stop. You never feel awake when you're not sleeping. Three years after your last dream, you find him, and everything changes.
