"I can’t stay. I know what will happen if I do, and I don’t know if I can survive that right now." After the events in Cairo, Erik returns with Charles and the newly formed X-Men. But he can't stay, and once the house is rebuilt Charles watches him walk away once again. Only this time, he doesn't disappear. Charles keeps every postcard and letter that Erik sends back from around the world. They're a poor substitute for the man himself, but they'll have to do until Erik comes back and they can try to have that life together they've both secretly wondered about.
