Fics like the self-harm of never being where you are

“I made cookies!” Buck announced as he waltzed through the front door and into the Diaz residence. Theo was trailing behind him, munching on one of the cookies and when he heard his dad’s sentence, he protested by screaming, “I helped!” “Yeah you did, buddy. Thank you.” Buck ruffled Theo’s hair as they finally reached the kitchen and he placed the container down on the counter with a large smile. He’d been expecting to meet Eddie and Chris in the kitchen, expecting to surprise them with the pumpkin cookies and watch their faces light up. Instead, they were nowhere to be found.
