Jude and Erling have always been good at explaining themselves away. The scenting, the touching, the sleeping in each other’s beds, the way Jude knows Erling’s body almost as well as his own — none of it has ever needed to mean anything. They’re best friends. They live together. And whenever things cross a line, there has always been an easy explanation for that too: heats, ruts, biology. Until one ordinary Friday night, a bottle of wine, a few poorly kept secrets and the unmistakable scent of want leave them with no cycle to blame. Or: it turns out Jude doesn’t need to be in heat to want Erling inside him, and Erling is far too pleased to discover that.
