“Maddie, when was the last time you talked to them before setting up this dinner?” Buck asked, not taking the beer, making her set it down on the small table. “Maybe a few weeks ago?” She frowned. “And do you know when the last time I talked to them was?” “No.” Her frown deepened. “How did that never come up?” “Because most of our conversations, after you got here in person, were about people I worked with, or how you were settling into your new life.” Buck pointed out. “And before you got here, how long had it been since you and I talked?” “Three years.” She whispered. “The 118 became my family.” Buck said certainly. “When I didn’t have mom and dad, and I didn’t have you, I had the 118." OR Buck refuses dinner at Maddie and Chim's place. Maddie moves it to Buck's place without asking beforehand. It goes as badly as Buck expected. But he has Eddie and Christopher Diaz to help him through the aftermath.
