Fics like why won't you let me bring you flowers / like I used to cheer you up?

“Shhh,” says his master, tracing the red-hot, bloody places where the whip had fallen. “It’s alright. You’ll be good now. My little savage bird. I love you, even when you peck and swipe at me.” The flowers tickle his throat, and he swallows them down, barely breathing, terrified that they will be seen. When he is finally alone, they spill out: six full flowers, puffy gold and white globes, each a hundred or more tiny blossoms crammed together, with a huge, shiny leaf hooked to one of them. He chews them into a paste and swallows them, and thinks: it is to be soon, then. Or: Armand and Hanahaki Disease, through the unending centuries.
