Fics like Count the headlights on the highway (hold me closer)

When Enjolras decides to pick up the hitchhiker, it’s partially because the thermostat on his car’s dashboard is displaying a temperature of nearly 100 degrees, and the guy appears to have nothing more than a ratty, well-loved rucksack, with a clearly empty water bottle clutched in one hand. It’s also partially because of the grin the guy is giving him as he holds his thumb up to Enjolras’ car; it’s confident, cocky. Slightly crooked. It’s partially the way the tattoo on said thumb stretches into a sleeve that covers his entire arm, before disappearing underneath his faded t-shirt. The way his long hair, tied into a haphazard-looking bun, shines in the midday sun. Mostly though, it’s because at this point in his journey, Enjolras hasn’t spoken to anyone in over two days.
