Fics like Rule 2943

Only a lucky few are born with a soulmate mark—a sign that somewhere in the world, the heavens have chosen someone just for them. Wei Wuxian has always wondered who the cloud-shaped mark above his heart belongs to. He gets his answer the night he sneaks into Cloud Recesses with Emperor’s Smile and meets Lan Wangji. Until he overhears Lan Wangji say he would rather devote his life to cultivation than accept someone loud, reckless, undisciplined, and constantly breaking rules. Wei Wuxian walks away believing he has been rejected by the one person who he believed would always choose him. Three years pass. Wei Wuxian learns how to bury the hurt beneath smiles, laughter, and duty. Wangji spends those same years discovering that the feelings he once feared were never something he wanted to escape. The letters he writes remain unsent, the apologies remain unspoken, and by the time they meet again, the bright boy Lan Wangji remembers has changed. But after three years of silence, hurt, and words left unsaid, can fate alone be enough to bring them back to each other? Or will the damage of that first rejection prove stronger than the bond the heavens gave them?
