Fics like wrong number

frank is having a miserable night when he receives a text from an unknown number: “you awake?” it's meant for someone else. frank could simply tell the stranger they've got the wrong number and move on. instead, he decides to mess with him. the stranger is gerard. what begins as a random late-night conversation becomes an intense friendship, constant flirting, dates, a relationship, and eventually a life together. along the way, frank discovers that gerard is genderfluid and gender-nonconforming. some days gerard feels more masculine, some days more feminine, and sometimes somewhere in between. his presentation changes with his mood — makeup, skirts, eyeliner, painted nails, oversized clothes, suits, traditionally masculine looks — and frank gradually becomes someone Gerard trusts enough to share that side of himself with.
