Fics like All I need's a Fraction of Your Happy Heart

“Shijie,” he manages, and does not allow himself to question it. Cannot bring himself to, really, as he crushes her in a hug he is far too old to need. “Shijie,” he says again, and it is far too wet. “Oh, A-Xian,” his sister breathes, soft and sweet and far kinder than he has deserved in a long, long time. His golden core pulses steady within him, and he is warm within his shijie’s arms, and it is everything he has longed for except—except he still needs— “Wei Wuxian!” His shidi’s scandalized voice barks, and Wei Wuxian cannot help a little laugh. He cannot even feel betrayed, hearing that voice, though it lead the forces that brought him to death. Though it meant to kill him, what was only hours earlier. It is softer now, lighter, unburdened by losses far too big for their frail shoulders. Wei Wuxian has dreamed about dying, before. He’s never dreamed of an after, but he thinks this is what he would want it to be. A peaceful dream, his siblings beside him, happy and annoyed, safe and unburdened. -- Or: following his death, Wei Wuxian finds himself back in time, just days before the fall of Lotus Pier. It is not a chance he intends to waste--no matter the consequences.
