Sleeping with Arvid isn’t supposed to be serious. Liam doesn’t mean that cruelly; only in the sense that it’s partly about blowing off steam, and mostly transactional: Liam has slept with men before, and Arvid wants to learn what it’s like to sleep with a man. Besides, Liam’s not blind; can acknowledge Arvid is attractive – classically handsome features, dark, intense eyes – framed by unfairly long lashes that he’s caught himself looking at for a second longer than can be considered friendly, if he doesn’t check himself. It is, he tells himself – not exactly difficult to let Arvid into his bed. It mostly had started, when Arvid had said, quite neutrally: have you ever imagined kissing another guy, and Liam had said – before he’d really registered the words, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. And there really had been no way of walking back that statement; not when Arvid’s head had whipped up, eyes locked onto Liam with all the acuteness of a homing missile. When Arvid asks Liam to show him how to have sex with guys, it's supposed to stay casual. It appears that Arvid hasn't got the memo.
