Fics like Project Maniac

Before the sawians were used for research and development, there existed a different group entirely; one that very few people knew of and lesser who knew what it was meant for. Project MANIAC was meant to test new technologies and bioengineering on human soldiers, with many systems, equipment, and augmentations being experimented on human test subjects to see the effectiveness of each new iteration that came out after the last. New armor designs, experimental combat drugs, and augmented human organs/body parts were the norm, but they took time to theorize, plan, and produce. Government contracts started disappearing one by one, the funding was drying up and time was running out. In the background, a new product was in development, one that would change the Company forever: The Experiment. Project MANIAC had very little time to produce the final product before the newly created bio-form would take precedence, but as previously mentioned, the project was shut down as the Company's precious cargo was lost one day, with it killing the program as a whole forever. With no buyers and no funding, the Company sent the maniacs down to retrieve it, but to no success; and now only one is left alive. His name is 1014.
