Fics like One Day, I Promise

It begins with a blurry photograph of the northern lights. Orm Kornnaphat is twenty-something, overworked, underpaid, and living an ordinary life in Bangkok when a frustrating night leads her to message a stranger on an app. The stranger calls herself 00. She lives in Helsinki, seven hours and thousands of kilometres away. What begins as sarcastic messages soon becomes good mornings sent before the other has gone to bed, photographs of ordinary days, late-night calls, ridiculous arguments and quiet promises. Somewhere along the way, a stranger becomes a friend. Then something more. For five months, they find ways to make the distance between Bangkok and Helsinki feel smaller. Until one day, 00 stops replying. No explanation. No goodbye. Just silence. A month later, Orm boards a plane to Helsinki with an address in her pocket and a promise she hasn't forgotten. Because once, when Orm told her they were too far apart for even a hug, 00 answered: One day. I promise.
