Fics like Mending

It starts with a fencepost. Well, technically speaking, it starts with the day Laudna arrives in Yios after a long, rambling trek through the Smouldercrown Mountains. One could say that it begins with the sand from the Rumedam Desert still lining the creases of her eyelids. Certainly, one could argue that it starts with the moment she catches sight of the beautiful, endless lake, the city in its midst nothing so much as a vast, bright smudge. If one were to be picky, one might say it starts with an attic apartment sitting empty, or perhaps with a needle and thread. But really, it starts with the fencepost, and Pâté is the one to realize this first.
