Fics like Beyond Her Understanding

Elizabeth Bennet has long been the cleverest person in every room she has ever entered. Quick-witted, widely read, and confident in her own judgment, she has met very few minds she could not follow and none she could not eventually surpass. Then she meets Fitzwilliam Darcy. He is proud, silent, and thoroughly disagreeable; and within a fortnight he has done something no one in Meryton has ever managed. He has made Elizabeth feel, for the first time in her life, that she may not be quite enough. She is certain the fault is his arrogance. She is not entirely right. Darcy has spent his life among people whose conversation cannot hold his attention and whose reasoning he can anticipate before they have finished a sentence. He came to Hertfordshire expecting nothing of its society. He said as much, plainly and in company, on the night they met. What follows is a Pride and Prejudice variation about two minds that cannot agree on what the other one is, a family held together by one daughter's understanding of everyone in it, and the particular difficulty of being proved wrong by the last person you expected.
