The song gave another pulsing thud, and the woman took the opportunity to take a step forward. Much closer, and the two of them would be touching. She was only a few inches taller than Rumi, but Rumi found herself tilting her head up to look into the woman's gaze. What was this effortless confidence? This predatory grace? This woman had to be an Alpha. Rumi had never really gotten what people talked about when they talked about Alphas and how powerful they were, but Rumi finally understood. All she wanted to do was to let this woman lead, to follow her wherever she wanted to go. At least on the dance floor. --- Rumi didn't realize she'd forgotten to speak until the woman cleared her throat, "My name is Mira." Mira. Mi. Ra. Two syllables, a small smile and then a tap of the tongue. Pretty. Rumi has been non-designated all her life. A chance encounter sweeps her into the arms of Mira—calm, confident, yet undeniably Omega—and it pushes Rumi's understanding of designations to new heights. Right before she presents as Omega herself.
